Community Solar Explained
What is community solar?
Community solar is a state-funded program in which local residents, businesses and municipalities can subscribe to a local solar farm to offset their electricity costs.

How does community solar work?
Subscribers sign up to "offset" their electricity usage and receive credits on their utility bill each month that mirror their average annual consumption.

Who can participate?
Any resident, business of municipal institution that pays their own electricity bill in the same utility as the solar site, regardless of whether they own or rent.

What does it cost?
There is no cost to join, and each dollar credit is purchased at an average of a 10% discount. This means that you save $0.10 for every $1.00 worth of credits that appear on your utility bill.
